Traveler's Notebook Update | August 2015

I know it's not that long since I last wrote a planner set-up update but I need to share! I'm still madly in love with the Traveler's Notebook style of planning; so much so that I've gone and ordered another cover, a whole host of notebooks and filmed another video about it all !  So, where to start... you might want to grab a brew and set aside fifteen or so minutes of your precious time to watch the video (below) because I explain everything in rather a lot of detail however I do also like give a blog mention to people and products that I love because they deserve the attention. First of all, a nod to Tony at Pocket Notebooks .  In my Pocket Notebooks unboxing video  I noted that the trend for shoebox-style delivery boxes is a barrier to actually receiving them because they don't fit through the letterbox, ergo, if you work during the day or have to pop out somewhere and delivery is attempted, you then have to schlep to the 'local' sorting off...

How Many Macarons Does It Take To Create A Twitter Trend?

For no apparent reason. 139 arguments over whether it's 'macaron' or 'macaroon'. 298 shared links to the correct spelling, pronunciation and definition of 'macaron' and 'macaroon'.  1 'celebrity' food critic to weigh in with a thinly veiled opinion. 8426 opinion tweets that have only read one side of the story. 823 bandwagon tweets that include a link to a blog post that might or might not be connected to the subject matter. 97 bloggers displaying concern that their future brand relationships may now be in jeopardy, 1...

If You Go Down To The Woods Today...

I have mentioned this on a number of occasions and here's another opportunity... we are so lucky that we have Witton Country Park literally on our doorstep and as a family we use it with great regularity - I run/exercise at least four times a week on the park, we take the dog for walks up there, my youngest son even had a hand in designing the adventure playground that's there. It's the perfect place for us to explore as "Nature Detectives" using our Woodland Trust membership. On Sunday we had a wander around Witton Park Wood here are some photos and a video of what we got up to. There are lots of pathways to explore and hills to climb and it sometimes feels a bit like Enid Blyton's Enchanted Wood. Some of the trees have grown in unusual ways or have fallen over so there's plenty of opportunity to climb.             We found a really unusually shaped tree and we were going to draw in in our books, however, as we got cl...

How To Help Your Child Make Healthy Choices

Healthy eating is hard enough as an adult , but being a parent trying to get your child to eat healthy is a whole different story. Most kids want the sweets and chocolates in their lunch boxes, not fruit and granola bars. Not to mention if you have managed to convince your child that eating healthy is a good thing, there’s still the price obstacle to tackle. It’s a mystery why healthy eating is so much more expensive then junk food, but there is a solution to every problem. There are coupons that may bring the high price of healthy snacks down to a normal “junk food” level, and sometimes if you manage to find a sale as well, you can lower the price even more. For example, there are many special offers waiting for you at Target . In the end, let’s face it – children are very expensive, but their health is not something to scrimp on. Now that we’ve tackled saving money, lets tackle the hardest part, which is your child wanting to eat healthy snacks. Our children mimic what they see...
