Mother of Purl

I've been knitting for, like, FOREVER!  I turned a few heads on the maternity ward when I was eighteen years old and knocked out three matinee jackets in a week whilst I was kept in 'for observation' during my first pregnancy.  Before Christmas I was sent a "knit your own snowman" kit as a thank you from John Lewis for sharing their 'Making Of...' video.  I promised myself that I would get it finished before Christmas Day... AND I DID!

Then I realised I didn't have any toy stuffing.
Then I had a drink and Christmas happened.
Then I realised I had caught the knitting bug so I subscribed to a knitting magazine on my Nook HD.
Then the market re-opened after Christmas and I took a trip to buy some toy stuffing and some wool and some needles.

Then I made a hat from a pattern in one of the knitting magazines back copies.
Then I realised I wanted to knit more.
Then I took a trip back to the market and bought more wool.
Then I posted up my Silent Sunday picture for this week and received comments such as, "I didn't have you pegged as a knitter" and, "Are you making anything nice?".

So this is what I have made over the past couple of days.  Each item has taken just a few hours to make - GOD BLESS CHUNKY WOOL AND BIG NEEDLES!  In case you can't tell what they are, from left to right, there is a hat (for me, as in the picture above), a bag (which is adapted from a pattern I found on t'internet) and another bag (which started life as a scarf to match the hat but I changed my mind half way through)

Next on the list is a weird sort of scarf, a lace-style shrug and poncho type thing (that's what I call a "big" project).  So, in the new year, I think I'll be spending a LOT of time on Pinterest looking for inspiration and free patterns.  And, knowing me, the cross-stitch will probably make an appearance again soon too!

[REVIEW] Canvas print from PrinterPix

Whilst dabbling in a bit of (very) amateur photography I occasionally have a favourite photo printed onto canvas.  It's usually a scenery picture and used to brighten up the walls in the lounge or at a focal point on the stairs.  Most recently I have had two images put through the process by PrinterPix . I sent off an image of my son after his Territorial Army passing out parade in April (proud parent moment) and one of our dog on the beach from a few months ago.  They were returned within a few days and looked even better than I had imagined. Soldier Boy is on a canvas that is 16" x 20" on a standard thickness (2cm) frame.  Michi is on a 12" x 16" canvas which is stretched onto a thickeer (4cm) frame.  Both have been printed using a gloss finish.   All canvases from PrinterPix are hand-stretched, use fade-resistant ink and tension wedges are fitted into the corners of each frame to aid stability. 7 Things To Do In Roda, Corfu

This year, our summer holiday took us to Corfu. We were staying in Roda on the north coast of the island and had a wonderful time. It's a beautiful Greek fishing village and has the most chilled and welcoming atmosphere I've ever experienced.  I'd love to share my recommended seven things to do if you visit Roda. Sunset over Roda harbour Swimming With The Fishes The coastline at Roda is completely flat so you can walk out quite a distance and still only be in shallow water.  The beach in the village is very sandy but becomes rocky as you move out of town towards some of the beach front hotels (twenty paces out to sea, it becomes sandy again).
